Saga Over 50's Home Contents and Buildings Insurance Review.

Saga Home Insurance is designed for the over 50’s and provides buildings cover up to £500,000 and contents cover up to £50,000 as standard. 70% of people taking buildings and contents cover would have received an introductory, combined and online discount of at least 25%. (Saga survey of new business January 2012). You can choose from contents only, buildings only or a combined policy.

Saga Buildings Insurance offers cover for

Full protection when your home is unoccupied for 60 days in a row, for example if you go on an extended holiday. You can arrange to extend this depending upon the circumstances (an additional premium may be charged).

Up to £2,000,000 for your legal liability as owner of the property.

Accidental damage cover for fixed glass in windows, and for cables, underground pipes and tanks serving your home for which you are responsible.

Property rebuilding or repair expenses including architects’ and surveyors’ fees.

The cost of alternative accommodation if you have to move out during repairs, up to 20% of the amount for which you are insured. (Up to sum insured with their Plus policy.)

Protection for fixtures and fittings, such as fitted kitchen units.

A defined list of causes, including fire, storm, subsidence, flood and theft. Walls, fences, drives, paths, patios, outbuildings, swimming pools and tennis courts are included, subject to policy terms and conditions, with the exception of storm or flood damage to fences, hedges and gates.

Saga Home Contents Cover offers -

New for old replacement of items if repair is not feasible, such as a broken mirror (including clothing and household linen with Cover Plus).
