Over Fifty Life Insurance is a product that many people try not to think about as
it is for those of us that have reached the age where we do not want to think about our mortality. They are hard to escape
though as they are advertised regularly on television by celebrities like Julie Walters and Sir Michael Parkinson. Where
they differ from traditional life insurance is that if you are aged between 50 and 85 (depending on the insurer), you are
guaranteed to be accepted onto the policy and will not have to complete a lengthy questionnaire or take a medical before you
get cover. This is why you will sometimes hear them called no medical life assurance.
Some of these policies also offer what is called a funeral option and this is to cover the costs of a traditional
cremation funeral on your death so your family don’t have the financial worry at a very emotional time.
All these plans are what is commonly referred to as whole of life policies
as they are designed to last for as long as you live. Like term assurance, they have no cash-in value so if you decide you
want to cancel your policy or stop paying your monthly premiums, you will no longer be covered, and the premiums you have
paid won't be returned.
